What This Class Covers

Pistol 2 takes the shooting and gun handling skills we teach in Pistol 1, expands them, and works them into tactics and gunfighting skills, as well as putting them into context with some scenarios and mindset instruction.

Gunfighting is about much more than marksmanship. In this class we will cover the following:

  • Target transitions.

  • Tactics, gunfighting mindset.

  • Force-on-force scenarios (non-UTM) to illustrate tactical principles.

  • Cover and concealment:

    • Considerations, what it’s for.

    • How to work around cover and concealment the right way (John Lovell method).

    • Re-evaluate force-on-force scenarios with new cover and concealment knowledge.

  • Live fire drills to tie it all together.

This class will help bridge the gap between knowing how to shoot and knowing how to fight.

  • This class is range only, and the range is outdoors. There is decent shade for most of the day, and I will bring a popup if there is a chance of rain. If it’s going to rain a lot, we will likely reschedule. We will take a few short breaks throughout the day and longer break for lunch. It is not going to be very practical to leave for lunch, so make sure you bring a pack lunch.

    • A functional handgun

    • A sturdy belt

    • A safe holster that allows for re-holstering

    • A spare magazine with belt carrier (more than 2 magazines is always nicer)

    • 300 rounds of ammunition minimum

    • Eye protection

    • Ear protection

    • Kneepads

    • Lunch, snacks, and water

    • Weather-appropriate clothing (range is outdoors)

    • Closed-toe shoes

  • Do I need prior experience?

    No, you can take this class as a beginner, but it is not recommended. A CPL class is a better starting point for most people.

    Do I need my own firearm?

    No. Rentals are available, however, they are limited for this class and not recommended. You would be better off learning with your own gun.

    Is the range indoors or outdoors?

    Outdoors.

    Is ammunition included?

    No.

    What happens if the weather is bad?‍ ‍

    We will still run the class if there is spotty rain, but if it’s set to downpour we will reschedule. I will let you know a few days in advance if the class will be moved.
